LEVEL: Form 2 Lycos (Intermediate) of SMK USJ 12, Subang Jaya
TOPIC: World’s Largest Cities and Famous Land Marks!
THEME: Places
TIME: 1 hour 10 minutes
LANGUAGE CONTENT: Grammar- WH Questions, Present Tense and Past Tense
EDUCATIONAL EMPHASES: ICT Skills, Learning How to Learn Skills, Preparation for the Real World
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE:
1. Students have learned on how to ask information from other people politely using Wh- Questions.
2. Students have learned to use Present Tense to tell about things that are still existing in the world and Past Tense to tell things that are already over and no longer exist.
AIMS: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to answer the Wh- Questions by searching needed information from any websites to complete the graphic organizer using simple Present Tense and simple Past Tense.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* One computer for two students
* Internet connection
* Web Browser
* LCD Projector
PREPARATION:
1. Locate the Kentucky Crosswords Puzzle. www.kentuckycrosswords.com
2. Try to complete the ‘World’s Largest Cities’ crosswords puzzle as fast as possible. http://www.kentuckycrosswords.com/Puzzles/Worlds%20Largest%20Cities.html
3. Make sure the javascript is enabled in every computer in the computer lab.
4. Prepare worksheets based on the information from the websites.

PROCEDURE:
Set Induction(5 minutes):
1.Teacher introduces the topic of the day.
2.Teacher recalls previous lesson with the students on Wh- Questions, Present Tense and Past Tense.
Activity 1 (15 minutes): World’s Largest Cities Crosswords Puzzle
1.Teacher asks the students to get into pair per computer.
2.Teacher instructs students to visit her blog and open a link to an online crosswords puzzle.
3.Teacher explains to the students on how to complete the crosswords puzzle about ‘World’s Largest Cities’.
4.Teacher allocates 8 minutes for students to complete the crosswords puzzle.
5.Teacher tells students that the two fastest pair that can complete the crosswords puzzle will be awarded a prize each.
6.Teacher questions the students about the countries of those world’s largest cities found in the crosswords puzzle using WH-Questions and the students are expected to respond using Present Tense.
Activity 2 (15 minutes): World Famous Land Marks
1.Teacher asks students to remain in pairs,return to her blog and open the link to ‘World Famous Land Marks’ worksheet.
2.Teacher asks students to find required information on the graphic organizer from any websites in the internet using the search engines (yahoo,google, etc)
3.Teacher guides students when necessary.
4.Teacher reminds students about the correct use of Present Tense and Past Tense in completing the task.
Activity 3 (30 minutes): Presentation
1.Teacher asks each pair to save their completed Activity 2 in the pendrive.
2.Teacher selects several pairs to share their Task 2 with the class on the LCD projector in front.
3.Teacher and students discuss the correct answer together.
4.Teacher asks other students whether they have any other possible answers.
5.Teacher encourages students to exchange ideas and stories with one another about famous places and land marks they have visited using Present Tense or Past Tense.
Conclusion:
1.Teacher recalls the lesson on 'World's Largest Cities and Famous Land Marks'.
2.Teacher inculcates moral values-Appreciation
Follow-Up Activity:
Teacher distributes a worksheet as homework to every student and asks them to colour the flag of the country of their favourite city and list five attractions of the city.
